The Sticky Fingers Cookery Parties
The Sticky Fingers Cookery Parties format has been a great success since it launched in 2008. Initially parties were held in the founder, Janet Cousins’ Deli-café, but it was soon apparent that a different business model was needed to take the business to the next level.
Janet, whose background is in teaching, food safety and cookery, developed an exciting two hour party package which could be taken into clients’ homes or local village halls. This fun party which can include baking cupcakes, cookies or candies is also educational and can be adjusted for different ages and groups of all abilities.
“I was very upset when they stopped teaching cookery and
domestic science in schools. These are important life skills
that can teach so much about weighing, measuring,
interpretation of recipes and healthy eating. Understanding
the ingredients that are found in different recipes is so
important for managing a balanced diet.”
Janet has also devised holiday workshops and after school cookery clubs to keep the children entertained at other times. Baked goods and savoury dishes can be cooked and taken home for the family to try and the sessions frequently embrace healthy eating
As the demand for parties grew, so did the need for recruiting additional Party Directors to host the parties and in 2016/2017 Sticky Fingers started to franchise its business.
“Over the last year I have had a lot of fun doing the parties,
meeting children and parents, and getting great feedback.”
