At EWiF, we’re proud to support women across the UK who are exploring, entering, and thriving within the world of franchising. When one of our own steps into a national spotlight to share the value of franchising, it’s a moment worth celebrating, and that’s exactly what’s happening with our South Wales Regional Chair, Katie Bullon.
Katie will be representing EWiF at Ideas Fest 2025 as part of the panel discussion “Franchise Your Freedom: Be in Business for Yourself, Not by Yourself.” It’s a powerful theme. One that reflects not only the strength of the franchise model but also EWiF’s core mission: to educate, encourage, and empower more women to consider franchising as a credible and inspiring route into business ownership.
As the CEO of activ Marketing and a former franchisee herself, Katie’s journey into franchising has given her unique insight into both sides of the model. Since acquiring activ in 2021, she has led its transformation into a flexible, modern franchise business, supporting marketing consultants around the world with systems, structure, and community. It’s no surprise that this evolution has attracted attention, not only from entrepreneurs looking to join the activ network, but also from the wider franchise industry.
Katie’s position as EWiF South Wales Chair means she isn’t just leading within her own business; she’s actively supporting other women to do the same. Through events, mentoring, and community-building, she’s helping more women in Wales see franchising as a realistic way to take control of their careers and futures. Her involvement in Ideas Fest is an extension of that commitment: opening up the conversation around franchising to a wider audience and offering real-world insights on how the right support systems can make entrepreneurship more accessible.
Ideas Fest is sometimes referred to as the “Glastonbury of business” bringing together forward-thinking entrepreneurs, leaders, and creatives to share ideas in a vibrant, festival-style environment. For Katie to be part of that platform reinforces the growing recognition that franchising is not only relevant but vital in today’s business landscape. Her voice brings much-needed visibility to the women leading in the franchise sector. And with advocates like Katie at the forefront, we hope more women will be inspired to discover what it truly means to be in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
