Three members of The Franchising Centre are undertaking the My Tri Ironman challenge throughout August to raise money for The Wessex Cancer Trust. Laura Harvey-Smith, Alan Wilkinson and Katie Snelling have joined forces to conquer this epic challenge. Although The Franchising Centre is based in York, they have consultants around the country.

Laura, who is Head of Training at The Franchising Centre, commented “I have a friend who is going through cancer treatment at the moment and wanted to do something practical to help raise money for a charity that doing some great work” She further added, “I love the team I work with. Being able to do this as a team event is just brilliant!

An Ironman Triathlon comprises of a 2.5 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. Laura, based near Winchester is a seasoned swimmer, recently taken part in the Henley Classic, takes on the swim. Alan is on his bike in the hills near York riding the 112 miles required and Katie will complete the 26.2 mile run around Norfolk.

Brian Duckett, Chairman of The Franchise Centre, said “It’s great to see our team pull together to raise money for such a good cause” Mr Duckett further added “They’re inspiring to take on such a challenge, I’ll certainly be adding my sponsorship.”

Wessex Cancer Trust helps and supports anyone with Cancer regardless of age, gender or type of cancer. They have a dedicated team that provides support for as long as people need it, away from a hospital environment.
