The 2016 Franchise Conference and Supplier Showcase took place recently at the National Conference Centre near Birmingham and, as normal, it was an action-packed day. Not only was there the usual exhibition of specialist franchise suppliers and a strong line-up of guest speakers, but the structure of the day had an interesting twist.

Organiser Nick Strong explained “The Green Hat People are a company that specialises in making conferences and group meetings more engaging. We saw an opportunity to involve them in the Showcase, get the franchisor delegates up out of their seats having fun and demonstrating how they could make their own franchisee conferences more engaging. It was great fun, there was good interaction between delegates and suppliers and it generated some fresh thinking about the possible format of franchisee meetings.”A growing feature of this event is the calibre of guest speakers. As well as CEO of the BFA Pip Wilkins addressing the issue of franchisee engagement, the line-up included KPMG revealing the different types of financial personality, James Vincent of Action Coach providing the formula for business success and James Ashford entertaining everyone with his high energy presentation about instilling core values.

Chairman of The Franchising Centre Brian Duckett commented “We have been running this event for fifteen years now and it just keeps getting better. Of course, the challenge is to go on improving it, but that is exactly what we will be aiming to do next year!”
