How to get your franchisees to engage better

You may have heard the old joke about the business reporter who was interviewing the CEO of a company and asked ‘How many people work in your organisation?’ to which the considered reply came ‘Probably less than half’. Now that might be funny except for the fact that for many companies it’s true.
Did all the employees turn up for work? Yes (mostly). So why did the CEO think they didn’t do much work? Because the work completed, the sales and profits made, weren’t in line with his aspirations or expectations for the business.
So were they just involved in rather than committed to the business? (If you want to know the difference between involvement and commitment it can be said that in the production of the Full English Breakfast the chicken is involved but the pig is committed!)
Research has indicated that businesses that have employees who are fully engaged with and committed to the business can grow profits three times faster than their competitors and reduce staff turnover by over 80%.
For ’employees’ read ‘franchisees’ and suddenly you can see a potential route forwards towards greater business growth.
