A part-time theatre school franchise is celebrating a milestone birthday this year by offering a financial incentive for anyone wanting to join the network before 2016 is over.
Razzamataz Theatre School launched in 2000 and started franchising in 2006 so this year they have been celebrating ten years of being a successful franchise business with an incentive worth almost £3,000. New franchisees will not need to pay their first term management fee and there will be no VAT charge on the franchisee fee meaning that the cost will be reduced to £9,995.
“The last ten years have been a whirlwind and it’s incredible to see what we have achieved in a relatively short amount of time,” says MD and Founder of Razzamataz Denise Hutton-Gosney. “My appearance on Dragons’ Den in 2007 really propelled us into the limelight and the opportunities that have come since Duncan Bannantyne made an investment have been amazing.”
Since the Den, Denise has grown the franchise business to almost 50 schools up and down the country. There have been hugely successful partnerships with the likes of First Choice, Her Majesty’s Theatre, The Stage newspaper, Barbie and Universal Pictures.
“2017 looks set to build on these opportunities further with partnerships with Disneyland Paris and Eurocamp,” says Denise. “These high profile partnerships are such good ways of building our brand and letting more people know what we offer in our schools throughout the country. Many of our school Principals tell us that many of their students found out about them through one of these connections so we know how important it is to continue to grow partnerships on every level.”
During the last ten years, Razzamataz franchisees have come from a wide range of backgrounds and have achieved successful businesses combined with a job that fits flexibly around their lifestyles.
There are many parents (and a grandparent) with young children, teachers who have left the profession to focus on Razzamataz and performers who combine working professionally with being a school Principal.
“Having worked in musical theatre for 12 years I needed to move on, but I wanted to stay in the same industry,” explains Michael French, Principal of Razzamataz Barnet. “Having the flexibility of putting in the hours I want, when I want, has enabled me stay in the industry that I love and has allowed me to continuing performing.”
Charlotte Young, the Principal of Razzamataz West Cumbria was one of the first ever franchisees, opening her school in 2006. “I honesty don’t know where the time has gone,” says Charlotte. “The training, support and amazing people I have met along my journey so far, plus being able to work around my little boy and family commitments has been such a bonus.”
Razzamataz is actively looking to open further schools across the UK and in particular Aberdeen and Cardiff, where the team will be holding Discovery Den days, which give people the opportunity to meet the Head Office team and find out more about this franchise opportunity.
