Kicking off in March, Razzamataz Theatre Schools is proud to be sponsoring Rock Challenge in various venues across the UK.
Rock Challenge is a series of performing arts events which promotes healthy life choices for thousands of young people who take part in local events. Those who make it through to the finals from these events will enter the Scottish, Northern or Southern Grand Finals.
The teams are made up of between 20 to 100 performers and they will decide on a theme that reflects the personalities, concerns, hopes, dreams and interests of those who create it. The team devise and perform the choreography for their dance-drama piece and compete in a wonderfully friendly day to a panel of specialists from the performing arts industry.
Many of the children who take part have had no performing arts training before and for many, this will be the first time they have set foot on a stage.
“The ethos behind Rock Challenge is very similar to our own beliefs,” explains Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “We feel that performing arts should be accessible to all children and young people because of the important life skills it offers. As a national chain of theatre schools, we regularly offer the chance for local children to win scholarships with us and we are proud to be the first part-time theatre school to be involved with The Stage scholarships since its inception. We are delighted to be sponsoring Rock Challenge UK and are proud to be involved with this inclusive event.”
Razzamataz will be on the look out for raw talent and those with the desire and dedication to benefit from performing arts training and will be offering scholarships to attend local Razzamataz schools, in which there are almost 50 around the country.
Debbie Mitchell, Principal of Razzamataz Carlisle will be kicking off the judging at one of the first Rock Challenge events in Carlisle. As well as looking for local talent in youngsters, the Razzamataz team is also keen to hear from people who have the drive and dedication to open their own part-time Razzamataz Theatre School.
“Many of our current Principals have recently graduated college and we have helped set them up in their own business,” explains Denise. “A Razzamataz franchise is an exciting opportunity for people to use their performing arts skills and work with children and young people to inspire them to be the best they can be.”
